Chi Chi Tunnels :
This is the underground tunnel network where the Vietnamese resistance
lived while trying to take Hanoi. They had to live
underground to avoid American bombing. Now, the Vietnamese
Government made a memorial there, proudly displaying the way of life of
the Chi Chi resistance, and the clever techniques they used to beat the
Americans. Here, a wall placard displays the
various types of man-traps they used against American troops.![]() |

On the way to the Chi Chi tunnels you pass rubber plantations with thousands of rubber trees neatly planted in lines. ![]() |

Also
at the tunnel memorial centre are trophy aircraft and vehicles that
were captured from the Americans. There's also a shooting range
where you can pay to shoot various captured guns. Pictured are a
group who finished doing just that.![]() |

Mekong Delta
: We spent a happy day at the giant Mekong river delta. There's
lots of little islands with orchards and narrow rivers.
There's also a lot of commercial shipping activity.![]() |

On the way back
from the Mekong delta, we visited this beautiful temple, part of the
tiny Tay Ninh Cadoi sect. They believe in a fusion of
Christianity, Buddhism and Taoism (if I remember correctly).![]() |
